Mountain walk
2 hours return
Ask Ros for a gourmet lunch pack and take the walk through native eucalypt forest to the top of St Patricks Head. Enjoy your lunch on the top of the world. From the mountain top you can see for miles!
Beach Walk
20 minute return
Only a 10 minute walk away is the beautiful Four Mile beach. Why not wander down and spend a little time beachcombing. There are beautiful shells to be found and if you’re lucky you may see whales in the bay – especially during the summer months. Look out for sea kelp washed up on the beach after a storm.
The rocks on the shoreline have a distinctive orange algae common to this part of Tasmania’s east coast. It brings a beautiful contrast to the rich turquoise blue of the water. A true painter’s paradise!
The Waterhole
30 minutes return
Wander along the dirt road following the creek to the waterhole which is situated in the Douglas Aspley National Park. This has been a favourite of the locals for many years and offers fresh water bathing on hot days in a natural granite surround. Why not take a picnic hamper and spend a little time languishing on the rocks. The water comes directly from the Gray mountain range which has the second highest rainfall in Tasmania. The water quality is one of the purest streams in this area.
